Terms of use

These terms cover this project website and the AI Notetaker software. By using them, you agree to follow these terms and the applicable open-source license.

AI Notetaker is open-source software, not a currently available hosted transcription service. The project-operated Hosted AI mode is not yet available for sign-up or production use.

1. The software license

AI Notetaker source code is provided under the MIT License. That license grants permissions and sets the warranty and liability terms for the software. These website terms do not replace or narrow the MIT License.

2. Meeting recording and consent

You are responsible for deciding whether and how to record a meeting, notifying participants, and obtaining consent required by law, workplace policy, or your agreements. Follow the rules that apply where each participant is located. An in-app reminder is not legal advice and does not obtain consent on your behalf.

3. AI providers and other services

In local mode, you configure AI providers and are responsible for your provider accounts, keys, fees, settings, and applicable terms. Audio and text may be sent to those providers to produce transcripts or summaries. Optional exports, Google services, and self-hosted history are governed by their operators' terms and privacy policies.

4. Downloads and installation

Download the software from the linked project releases and review each release's notes and checksums. Current desktop installers may be unsigned and can show operating-system warnings. A checksum can help detect a changed or damaged file but does not establish publisher identity or guarantee safety. Do not disable operating-system security protections globally to install the software.

5. Website and community contributions

Use the website and project resources lawfully. Public GitHub issues, discussions, and pull requests are visible to others and may be retained by GitHub. Do not include private recordings, transcripts, API keys, access tokens, or confidential information in public contributions. Contributions are handled under the project's contribution guidance and repository license.

6. Service availability and changes

The website, release links, and downloadable software may change. No subscription, support response time, or hosted service is promised by these terms. Before the project-operated managed service launches, it will have separate service terms and a service-specific privacy notice.

7. No additional warranty

The software is provided under the warranty and liability terms in its applicable open-source license. To the extent a website disclaimer is allowed by law, the project website and its informational content are provided without additional warranties. Nothing here removes a right or protection that cannot legally be excluded.

8. Contact and updates

Questions about these terms can be raised through the project's GitHub issue tracker. Do not post sensitive personal or meeting information publicly. Updated terms will show a revised effective date.
